Teesside Hospice is merging with Butterwick Hospice to form a new Hospice Group with more than 250 employees and 500 volunteers across multiple sites. We are seeking an HR, volunteering and governance leader to shape the future of palliative and end‑of‑life care for the Tees Valley community.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the HR function for the new Hospice Group, including workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations and performance management.
  • Oversee volunteer management, ensuring effective recruitment, training and retention of the 500+ volunteers.
  • Develop and implement governance policies for the Hospice Group, ensuring compliance with data protection, hospice regulations and best practice.
  • Provide strategic HR and governance advice to the senior leadership team.

Qualifications

  • Qualified and/or highly experienced HR leader with a strategic perspective.
  • Experience in data protection and healthcare or hospice governance is desirable.
  • Experience leading volunteer programmes or a deep understanding of volunteer management. Training can be provided where knowledge or experience is lacking.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be eligible for a DBS check – the organisation will arrange the check.
