About The Position

PEOPLE digital is looking for a writer‑reporter to join our U.K. team, working from Monday to Friday. Based in Britain, the ideal candidate will be an integral member of our editorial team, creating content on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to working closely with the U.K.-based morning editors, this person will be a part of the off‑hours team, helping the New York office to kick off the news agenda before the U.S. starts its business day.

PEOPLE as a brand covers 20+ different verticals, so this person needs to be comfortable writing everything from entertainment, royalty and lifestyle content to crime, human interest and political stories. In the morning hours, there will be a heavy focus on those hard news topics. The ideal candidate is immersed in and comfortable reporting on U.S. news opportunities across that spectrum. This is a fast‑paced newsroom, so speed is essential, and an ability to handle a volume of at least 5‑7 stories a day, while still delivering everything clean, sharp, and accurate. This person must also be fluent in SEO and news trends. There will be opportunities to do interviews and cover occasional events in the London area.

We want a self‑starter who is not just a talented writer with an eye for a great story, but someone who is equally comfortable pitching ideas and picking up the phone to contact publicists, reps, police, etc. in a bid to obtain original reporting. Impeccable journalism standards are a must.

In-office Expectations: This position is fully remote with no in‑office requirements, (might require coming into an office 1 or 2x a year).

About The Team

The news team at PEOPLE encompasses 30+ writers and editors who take the lead on the magazine’s digital coverage during the off‑hours. They have a keen understanding of every story that PEOPLE is covering, and work with the vertical editors to craft and execute a constantly evolving story list. From entertainment to hard news to lifestyle content, the news team touches it all and publishes hundreds of stories a week.
