We are currently supporting a leading EPC with the appointment of an experienced Senior Contracts Manager, to join its growing Substations and New Connections business.
The Role:
Sitting directly beneath the Operations Director, the Senior Contracts Manager will take responsibility for a portfolio of major substation and new connection projects, potentially aligned to a geographical region or key strategic client. You will provide senior leadership to Senior Project Managers and Project Managers, ensuring projects are delivered safely, commercially and in accordance with programme. Projects include new connections and associated substation infrastructure up to 400kV supporting major data centre and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) developments across your region, based on your location.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of complex HV/EHV substation and new connection projects
- Manage and develop Contracts Managers, Senior Project Managers and Project Managers, Design Interface PM, Civil and Electrical site-based engineers and delivery teams
- Take accountability for operational and commercial performance across your portfolio
- Provide senior oversight of programme, cost, risk, quality and HSEQ performance
- Ensure effective project governance and reporting across multiple concurrent schemes
- Work closely with Design, Commercial, Planning, Procurement and Commissioning functions
- Maintain senior relationships with key clients, DNOs and supply-chain partners
- Identify project risks early and drive appropriate intervention and recovery strategies
- Support resource planning across the portfolio
- Drive consistency and best practice across project teams
- Support the Operations Director with strategic planning and continued growth of the business
About You
We are looking for an established senior delivery professional from the power, T&D or major electrical infrastructure sector. You will ideally have:
- Significant experience delivering HV/EHV substations or new connections
- Experience at Contracts Manager, Senior Contracts Manager or equivalent level
- Proven responsibility for multiple major projects simultaneously
- Experience managing Senior Project Managers and Project Managers
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness
- Experience delivering projects at 132kV and above, with 275kV/400kV experience highly desirable
- Strong understanding of DNO and transmission requirements
- Excellent client and stakeholder management capability
- The leadership skills to manage both people and project performance
