People In Power is working in partnership with a leading EPC to support them in delivering 132kv & 400kv substations and associated cabling works across the UK either for new build Grid substations or large new connections projects ranging from Data centres, Battery storage, or National Grid Frameworks. Due to rapid growth and new private equity investment, the company is set to treble in size over the next 5 years to an astounding £750 M turnover. As such we are looking to secure a Senior Quantity Surveyor to assist them in all commercial aspects of key high-value projects from concept through to handover to be based in Hemel Hempstead or Barking with remote working a few days a week also, Roles and Responsibilities Responsibility for the day to day running of the commercial and contract administration of specifically assigned power projects and/or Framework contracts. The responsibilities start from the onset of any project which includes but not limited to the following: * Management of Subcontractors, including negotiation of rates, reconciliation of tender / Subcontractor rates, agreeing variations and assessing applications. * Tender Submissions which include preparing, negotiating, and analysing costs for tenders, review of terms and conditions, clarifying tenders preparing subcontract tender packages if required, evaluate subcontract responses * Contract administration through preparation of monthly valuations, variations control, arranging for payment, contract administration and preparation and assessment of claims if require. * Cost reporting which will include preparing monthly reports analysing cost v value for our monthly CVR’s. The role of the Senior Quantity Surveyor is to assist in managing cost effectiveness from the initial stages of the project to the final costs. This will include responsibility to minimise the costs of the project and enhance value for money whilst working with the team to ensure that the project meets all legal and quality assurance requirements Qualifications / Competency: * Previous experience of civil engineering, HV Engineering or utility contracts at a Senior Quantity Surveyor Level * Customer aware and innovative, capable of maximising contract benefits for mutual and long-term benefit * Track record or exceeding business targets and KPIs. * Ability to identify and resolve problems at an early stage. * Able to lead, set up and manage site-based commercial and reporting systems. * A ‘Hands on’ approach with proven ability to run own jobs. * Accurate with good attention to detail and highly organised. * Experience in NEC option A and JCT forms of contract. * IT literate and experienced in working with MS Office and other applications and Cost Control Systems (e.g., Evision) Please get in touch with Abigail Young to discuss in more detail
