People House Recruitment is supporting the appointment of a Registered Manager for a newly developing children's residential home supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation and play a key role in the registration, setup, and ongoing development of a new children's home. Applications are welcomed from both experienced Registered Managers and ambitious Deputy Managers seeking progression into a Registered Manager position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the registration and development of a new children's residential home
- Ensure compliance with Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Provide strong safeguarding and child-centred leadership
- Recruit, develop, and manage a high-performing staff team
- Oversee care planning, risk management, and placement stability
- Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections
- Develop policies, procedures, and operational systems
- Build positive relationships with local authorities and external professionals
Essential Requirements
Registered Manager Applicants
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Registered Manager within children's residential care
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
- Strong knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and safeguarding requirements
- Experience preparing for and managing Ofsted inspections
- Sound understanding of relevant Children's Acts, regulations, and statutory guidance
- Experience opening and registering a new children's home is highly desirable
- Previous Ofsted registration and an associated URN would be advantageous
Deputy Manager Applicants
- Significant experience within children's residential care
- Deputy Manager experience within an Ofsted-regulated setting
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, compliance, and leadership responsibilities
- Experience supporting inspections and service development
- Desire and capability to progress into a Registered Manager role
