We are seeking a motivated Site Engineer to join a Tier 1 joint venture delivering one of the United Kingdom’s most significant civil engineering programmes in the East Tilbury area. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a long term, complex infrastructure project involving major earthworks, tunnelling preparation, structures, and heavy civils.

Early works are already underway, with extensive earthworks and enabling works forming the backbone of the programme ahead of future tunnelling operations commencing in 2028. The project will ultimately include large scale bridge construction, culverts, piling, and associated highway infrastructure.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to develop their career on a high profile, multi disciplined project with genuine long term progression.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day to day site engineering activities across earthworks and civil disciplines
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient delivery
  • Support delivery of bulk earthworks, including volumes exceeding one million cubic metres
  • Carry out setting out duties using GPS machine control and total station equipment
  • Complete and maintain inspection test plans, permit systems, and quality assurance records
  • Review and support preparation of method statements and risk assessments
  • Ensure accurate record keeping, site documentation, and reporting
  • Liaise with site management and contribute to short term planning and sequencing
  • Support engineering input into construction planning and progress tracking
Requirements
  • One to two years experience working with a main contractor
  • Experience in earthworks or heavy civil engineering projects is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of site engineering processes and setting out
  • Familiarity with quality documentation, permits, and inspection systems
  • Ability to manage workload across multiple site activities
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline
