Essex based Construction Consultancy is seeking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Project Management Team.
The successful candidate will be part of an expanding and diverse team of professionals, responsible for the procurement and delivery of a vast array of construction, mechanical and electrical related projects.
Working predominantly within the Education and Healthcare sectors. The candidate will be responsible for the undertaking typical project management, contract administration and employers agent functions/duties alongside their Quantity Surveying role.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This includes (but not limited to) cost planning, budgeting, tender management, contract administration, and ensuring that all financial and contractual aspects are controlled efficiently.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
- Previous experience in quantity surveying or a similar role within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in cost estimating and financial analysis software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, MS Excel).
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and project management principles.
- Demonstratable experience working within a consultancy environment.
- Professional membership with a recognized Quantity Surveying or Construction Management body (e.g., RICS, CIQS) is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working within the Education / Healthcare sector.
- Hold membership to a relevant professional institution such as: RICS, CIOB, MAPM.
- Hold a postgraduate degree/qualification in an applicable subject e.g. Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Construction Cost Management etc.
