Principal Consultant – Commercial Infrastructure (Freelance Desk)

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Freelance Recruitment Consultant to join our Infrastructure Commercial division. This is a unique opportunity to step into an already-established desk with a warm client portfolio, active roles, and a direct report already in place. You’ll be taking over from a high-performing consultant who has recently been promoted internally, meaning there’s real momentum and ongoing success to build from.

The Role

• Running a 360 recruitment desk focused on commercial roles (QS, commercial managers, cost consultants, etc.) within infrastructure (rail, utilities, highways, major projects).
• Managing and growing existing client relationships while actively developing new business.
• Mentoring and leading a direct report, supporting their growth and ensuring team targets are met.
• Delivering consistent, high-quality service to both clients and candidates in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
• Working closely with the wider infrastructure team to align on strategy, delivery, and market growth.

What We’re Looking For

• A proven 360 recruiter with strong billing history in the infrastructure or construction sector (freelance).
• Deep understanding of the commercial market, ideally with experience placing QSs, cost consultants, commercial managers, etc.
• Able to hit the ground running, you’ll be stepping into a well-established desk with active clients and live vacancies.
• Previous experience managing or mentoring others is a plus.
• Driven, self-sufficient, and commercially savvy, you’ll have the freedom to shape and grow your area.
• Someone who can consistently be billing £180-240k per annum and lead by example.
