A leading Tier 1 residential developer is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to take a pivotal role on a landmark, long-term residential development in Wapping, London. This is a rare opportunity to join a flagship 10-year, multiphase scheme delivering 2,500 high spec apartments, along with communal areas. You will play a key role in shaping the design quality, delivery strategy, and long-term vision of one of London’s most prestigious residential projects.

The Role

  • Lead and coordinate the design process across multiple phases from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring the highest standards of design excellence, buildability and commercial performance.
  • Manage and coordinate external consultants, architects and specialist designers.
  • Drive design quality while ensuring compliance with planning, building regulations and employer’s requirements.
  • Oversee design development through all RIBA stages.
  • Manage design risk, change control and value engineering without compromising quality.
  • Work closely with construction, commercial, planning and stakeholder teams.
  • Support long-term programme planning and future phases of the scheme.

About You

You will be a confident, commercially aware design professional with a strong background in major residential-led developments. Ideal experience includes:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Design Manager.
  • Background working with Tier 1 developers or main contractors.
  • Experience in delivering high-end residential or mixed-use schemes.
  • Strong understanding of UK planning and building regulations.
  • Ability to manage complex, long-term projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
