A leading building services contractor is delivering complex engineering solutions across some of the UK’s most prestigious commercial, residential, healthcare, education, data centre and infrastructure projects. With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued growth within the mission-critical sector, we are looking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Manager to support the delivery of a major Data Centre project.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business and play a key role in driving health, safety and wellbeing standards across a flagship project while working closely with operational teams, clients and senior leadership.

The Role

  • As Health & Safety Manager, you will take ownership of the health and safety function on a major Data Centre development.
  • You will oversee project activities throughout the construction phase, ensuring the highest standards of compliance, engagement and operational safety are maintained.
  • You will manage a team of Health & Safety Advisors, providing leadership, support and guidance while promoting a proactive and positive safety culture across the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all health and safety activities across a major Data Centre project.
  • Manage and support a team of Health & Safety Advisors on site.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for client health and safety matters, building strong working relationships and maintaining stakeholder confidence.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, company policies and client requirements.
  • Conduct audits, inspections and incident investigations, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Produce and review risk assessments, method statements and health and safety documentation.
  • Drive a positive safety culture through engagement, coaching and leadership.
  • Provide regular reporting and updates to senior management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the wider business.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager within the construction or MEP sector.
  • Previous experience working on Data Centre projects is essential.
  • Strong client-facing experience with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels.
  • NEBOSH Diploma preferred, although candidates holding a NEBOSH Certificate with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence site teams and drive positive behavioural safety initiatives.
  • Ambitious, proactive and motivated with a desire to progress within a growing business.
