My client is a dynamic and forward-thinking multi-discipline consultancy, delivering innovative solutions across architecture, engineering, project management, and health & safety. Their collaborative approach drives excellence and value across a diverse range of sectors including commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
As the practice continues to grow, they are seeking a Health and Safety Advisor / CDM Principal Designer with a background in architecture to join our expanding team. This is a unique opportunity for someone with design experience and a passion for health and safety to contribute meaningfully to shaping safe, compliant, and inspiring built environments.
The Role:
You will take the lead on delivering Principal Designer services under the CDM 2015 Regulations and provide expert health and safety advice across a variety of projects. Working closely with design teams, clients, and contractors, you will influence project outcomes from concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Principal Designer under CDM 2015 across a range of projects.
- Provide strategic health and safety advice and guidance during pre-construction and design phases.
- Undertake design risk reviews and liaise with multi-discipline teams to ensure risk is effectively managed.
- Prepare and review pre-construction information and Health & Safety files.
- Engage directly with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance and best practice.
- Support the wider H&S and design team in delivering CDM consultancy services.
About You:
- Ideally a construction related degree
- Background in architecture or design with a strong understanding of the design process and risk management.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification.
- Demonstrable experience in delivering CDM Principal Designer services.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage design professionals and clients.
- Proactive, organised, and committed to promoting a culture of safety and design excellence.
- APS membership (IMaPS or CMaPS) or working towards.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary environments.
- Knowledge of BIM and digital design processes.
