Job Description
Please note, this is an initial 3-month contract (inside IR35) with the potential to transition into a permanent role. The ideal candidate will be fully qualified, with at least two years of post-qualification experience and prior experience using Oracle, which is essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee sub-ledger month-end close processes, ensuring all teams adhere to deadlines. Monitor and resolve issues related to unaccounted or untransferred items, errors, and general ledger reconciliations. Review and clear daily error reports to avoid delays in month-end activities.
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for Oracle General Ledger (GL) and support continuous system improvements.
- Manage and maintain the Chart of Accounts (COA), including updates, changes, and account openings/closures. Evaluate changes for broader business impact, such as on expenditure types and purchasing categories.
- Lead the intercompany team to ensure monthly reconciliation of balances. Conduct regular analysis and manage cash repatriation through intercompany clear downs.
- Manage payroll reconciliation processes and oversee payroll postings handled by finance assistants.
- Review and analyze sweep reports to ensure timely clearing of transactions, avoiding legacy rollovers.
- Oversee the creation and posting of accounting entries during month-end close. Run reconciliation reports and monitor the GL dashboard for unposted items.
- Maintain all period exchange rates, update the prior month’s spot rate, and implement the new month's rate accordingly.
- Administer the fixed asset register, including preparation of depreciation schedules and timely capitalisation of work-in-progress (WIP).
- Lead the currency revaluation process to ensure correct treatment of unrealised FX gains and losses.
- Coordinate all general ledger reporting requirements and follow up with supporting teams to address recurring issues.
- Manage the opening and closing of the general ledger for each period.
- Act as a finance team ambassador, building effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the year-end audit process with accurate and timely information.
- Contribute to the organization’s net zero carbon goals by proactively identifying and managing carbon emissions related to finance operations.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- In-depth understanding of professional accounting standards and transactional accounting.
- Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures and accounting systems, particularly Oracle.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex accounting processes independently.
