About the Role: Our client is a leading Carpentry, Joinery and Fit-Out firm specialising in Commercial, Industrial and Residential Joinery Fit-outs; seeking an experienced Estimator to work alongside the Senior Management team and Chief Estimating Manager. With close to 40 years in the industry, the firm is known for its high-profile projects in Commercial & Leisure, Hotels & Residential, Health & Education and Heritage Building sectors, including prestigious contracts around the country.
Role Overview: As an Estimator, you will help lead the Pre-construction stage preparation of tender submissions, budget quotations and early contractor information. This will involve all aspects of bid preparation, including pricing and quality submission for a variety of projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to project specifications. By analysing proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, conducting risk assessments, and working closely with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure projects are completed within budget and to the highest standards. You will be reporting to the Pre-Construction Director and Chief Estimator and will be responsible for mentoring and teaching Junior and apprentice employees.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret project plans and specifications to understand the scope of projects.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Accurately identify the scope of works and ensure sufficient information to accurately prepare tenders, and ensure issuing in accordance with the supply chain procedure.
- Conduct Risk Assessments and identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders - Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
- Support Negotiations: Assist in negotiating contracts and change orders.
- Liaise with clients regularly to ensure updates of tender progress.
- Stay updated on current material costs, labour rates, and industry trends.
- Maintain detailed records of all estimates, contracts, and project documentation.
- Develop comprehensive bid proposals and present them to clients and stakeholders.
- Prepare Cost Estimates - calculate labour, material, and equipment costs to create detailed project cost estimates, and compile first cost reports for handover in a timely manner.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Manage the issuing of the weekly tender control planner.
- Ability to visit site as and when required.
