I'm working with a long-established Tier 1 M&E contractor that’s built a reputation for delivering some of the UK’s most high-profile commercial, healthcare, and data centre projects. They’re now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead on a multimillion Data Centre Project. This business is known for combining traditional engineering expertise with cutting-edge digital construction methods. It’s a fantastic opportunity for a mechanically biased project leader who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and wants to be part of a forward‑thinking team with excellent long‑term prospects.
The Role
As Senior Mechanical Project Manager, you’ll take full ownership of mechanical delivery from early design coordination through to commissioning and handover. You’ll work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients to ensure all works are delivered safely on time, and to the highest standard.
Responsibilities Include:
- Managing mechanical works on high-value M&E projects (ÂŁ20m+)
- Overseeing subcontractor performance and resource allocation
- Liaising with design teams and driving value engineering where appropriate
- Managing project schedules, risk, and financial performance
- Ensuring compliance with company procedures and safety standards
- Reporting progress to senior leadership and end clients
- Supporting pre‑construction activities and procurement where required
Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum 7 years’ experience managing mechanical packages within the building services sector
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, and mechanical systems in large commercial, mission‑critical environments, pharmaceutical or data‑centre projects.
- Background with a Tier 1 M&E contractor
- Able to manage multiple stakeholders in a high‑pressure setting
- Technically proficient, commercially aware, and delivery‑focused
- ONC/HNC in Engineering or educated to Degree Level.
- SMSTS, CSCS, and relevant mechanical qualifications essential
- Experience with BIM, CDE platforms, and digital project tools a bonus
