London / Surrey | Hybrid Working
An opportunity to make a real impact on a nationally significant project.
We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a leading global consultancy on a major, multi-million-pound programme transforming a Central Government campus in the London/Surrey area.
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a diverse, redevelopment programme at a site of international scientific importance, delivering enabling works, infrastructure and building projects within a complex, live operational environment.
Working as part of the Project Management Delivery Partner team, you’ll play a key role in commercial management, procurement and project delivery, collaborating with a wide range of technical, construction and client-side stakeholders.
The Role
You’ll work closely with the wider programme delivery team, providing commercial and contractual expertise across multiple work packages, from post-contract award through to final account.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing commercial and contractual activities in accordance with NEC3 or NEC4 ECC contracts.
- Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and programme stakeholders.
- Managing interim payments, payment certificates and final accounts.
- Assessing, negotiating and managing compensation events and the financial impact of instructed changes.
- Supporting cost management, forecasting, budget control and expenditure planning.
- Producing cost reports, financial analysis and performance data to support effective decision-making.
- Undertaking cost impact analysis of proposed scope and programme changes.
- Supporting procurement, contract administration, benchmarking and value management.
- Identifying opportunities to improve commercial performance, efficiency and value for money.
About You:
We’re keen to speak with commercially astute construction professionals who enjoy working collaboratively on complex, high-profile programmes.
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience in a Commercial Management or Cost Management role within the construction sector.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC3 or NEC4 ECC contracts — essential for this position.
- Experience delivering large-scale public sector schemes and managing multiple work packages from design through to completion.
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills, with the confidence to engage at director level.
- Strong financial management, cost reporting and forecasting capabilities.
- A degree in a relevant construction-related discipline and a relevant professional qualification, or be working towards one.
Experience within pharmaceutical, healthcare or life sciences environments would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Join a major, multi-million-pound government redevelopment programme.
- Work on a technically complex site with world-class scientific and research facilities.
- Collaborate with an established, multidisciplinary project delivery team.
- Play a key role in commercial performance, cost control and successful programme delivery.
- Develop your career with a leading global consultancy.
