Salary: Competitive + Bonus + Benefits Help shape the future of development finance.

My client is an award-winning specialist property finance lender providing bridging, development and specialist Buy-to-Let finance across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Having successfully established themselves within the residential development lending market, they are now entering an exciting phase of growth.

Whilst they currently lend on schemes up to £3 million, our ambition is to support significantly larger developments of up to £20 million.

To achieve this, we are investing in specialist construction expertise that will strengthen our underwriting capability and provide confidence to our investors, shareholders and borrowers.

This is a newly created position that will become the technical authority on all construction matters across the business.

Working alongside our lending and underwriting teams, you will assess development opportunities from a construction perspective, identifying technical, commercial and programme risks before lending decisions are made.

You'll become the trusted advisor who challenges assumptions, validates budgets and programmes, and provides independent technical opinions on project viability.

You'll meet developers, visit sites, review professional reports, interrogate cost plans and provide clear recommendations that directly influence lending decisions.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with extensive construction consultancy or developer experience who enjoys problem solving, commercial decision making and influencing senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities Undertake technical due diligence on residential development and refurbishment schemes.

Assess construction programmes, procurement strategies and delivery risks.

Review development appraisals, cost plans and cashflow assumptions.

Interrogate Quantity Surveyor reports and challenge build costs where appropriate.

Produce detailed technical reports for shareholders and investment committees.

Meet borrowers to understand delivery strategies and assess capability.

Carry out site inspections throughout the lifecycle of projects.

Monitor construction progress against programme and budget.

Identify technical, commercial and regulatory risks that could impact project viability.

Review planning conditions, Building Regulations and statutory requirements, highlighting any significant cost or programme implications.

Assess contractor and supply chain capability and credibility.

Provide ongoing technical advice to the underwriting and lending teams.

Act as an internal construction expert, helping develop processes and raising technical capability across the business.

About You We're looking for someone who combines deep technical construction knowledge with excellent commercial judgement.

You'll likely come from a consultancy, developer, contractor or lender's monitoring surveyor background and will have extensive experience delivering residential developments, heavy refurbishments or mixed-use schemes.

You'll be comfortable challenging experienced developers, presenting to investors and providing balanced, evidence-based recommendations.

If you're looking for an opportunity to influence lending decisions, help shape a growing business and become the trusted technical voice within an ambitious lender, we'd love to hear from you.
