About the Business
Our client is a leading UK-based MEP contractor delivering complex, high-value projects across critical environments including data centres, life sciences, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing. They are known for their strong delivery capability, technical expertise, and long-term involvement on major infrastructure schemes.
The Role
This is an opportunity to take a lead planning role on a major data centre project in London. The project is currently in pre-construction and is expected to run for approximately three years, with an MEP value of circa £20m. You will operate on a largely standalone basis, owning the programme from pre-construction through delivery, while collaborating with senior leadership and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and own the overall MEP programme, ensuring alignment with project milestones and strategic objectives
- Produce high-level, resource-loaded programmes and track progress against key deliverables
- Coordinate with design, procurement, and construction teams to ensure realistic sequencing and integration of MEP activities
- Identify critical path items and proactively resolve potential programme delays
- Monitor risk and opportunity within the programme and provide solutions to mitigate schedule and delivery impacts
- Lead planning processes and ensure accurate baseline data and reporting to senior stakeholders
- Manage internal and external stakeholder expectations through clear reporting, progress updates, and programme briefings
- Mentor and support junior planners where required, ensuring team alignment and consistency in planning processes
- Interface with project controls and commercial teams to provide programme input for cost management and forecasting
Key Requirements
- Strong experience planning large-scale MEP projects, ideally within the data centre sector
- Experience in fast-paced sectors such as pharma or life sciences also considered
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior planning role
- Proficient in Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, Excel, and Cincro
- Comfortable taking ownership of planning activities independently with senior-level stakeholder engagement
