As a Sub Agent, you’ll play a key role in the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase of a complex structural refurbishment project with an anticipated construction value of around £20M. Construction is scheduled to begin in Q1 2026 and continue into 2027. Beyond this scheme, a strong pipeline of future projects will provide you with both stability and clear opportunities for promotion, as well as the chance to broaden your experience further. You’ll be joining a highly respected Tier One Contractor with a diverse portfolio spanning both infrastructure and the wider construction market. Recognised as one of the UK’s most profitable contractors, they reward success with regular annual bonuses and provide a well structured training and development programme to support your long term career growth. What will you be doing? During the ECI phase, you will: Deepen your project knowledge by contributing to the development of the design, methodology, programme, and budget Enhance your collaboration skills by working closely with clients, designers, and other key stakeholders Think strategically by assessing constructability and considering whole-life costs, not just delivery Drive innovation by proposing smarter construction methods, value engineering solutions, and risk mitigation strategies Build commercial awareness through exposure to budgeting, risk sharing, and contractual frameworks During delivery phase, you will: Coordinate site activities Supervise engineers and subcontractors, ensure works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards Contribute to planning and programming Resolve technical issues Oversee inspections, testing, and compliance with design specifications Promote health, safety, and environmental best practice Liaise with clients and stakeholders Maintain accurate project records Support cost control and risk management What do you need to be successful? You should have several years of site based experience with a Principal Contractor. Ideally you will hold ECI or PCSA experience. Ideally, you are already working as a Sub Agent, though we are also keen to hear from Senior Engineers who feel ready to step up into the role. You will hold a relevant construction qualification (HNC, HND, Degree, or Masters in Civil Engineering), along with a CSCS card and SMSTS. As this role requires passing a rigorous security vetting process, you must be able to meet those requirements. Experience above ground, particularly with structural works or building refurbishment in regulated environments, is essential. A background in rail or aviation projects would be highly advantageous. On offer is a salary of 60,000 – 65,000 per annum along with a car allowance, paid travel, bonus, pension, medical and holiday. If you’d like to learn more, contact Rob at (phone number removed), or apply via the link with your CV (it doesn’t have to be fully up to date). We aim to respond to all applicants that meet the above criteria. \”People Group is an equal opportunity employer.
