Project Overview: A Tier 1 contractor is delivering a £7 million National Highways scheme in Plymouth and is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Agent to lead the on-site delivery team. This role is critical to the successful execution of the project and offers a long-term freelance opportunity, with additional schemes scheduled to follow in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full responsibility for day-to-day site management and project delivery
- Lead and coordinate the site team, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Work closely with the commercial team to manage budgets, cost control, and reporting
- Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Maintain effective communication between site, office, and client teams
- Drive programme and productivity to ensure timely project completion
- Manage site documentation and reporting requirements
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Site Agent on highways or civil engineering projects of a similar value (£5m–£10m+)
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing site teams and subcontractors
- Comfortable working closely with commercial and planning teams
- In-depth understanding of National Highways specifications and processes
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Valid CSCS card, SMSTS, and First Aid certification
- Right to work in the UK and eligible for CIS or outside IR35 engagement
