A leading Principal Contractor is looking to appoint an experienced MEP Commissioning Manager to join a flagship 45MW hyperscale data centre project in East London. With Phase 2 now kicking off, this is an opportunity to join one of the UK's fastest-growing sectors on a long‑term programme of works. The successful candidate can expect a minimum 12-month engagement, with a strong pipeline and realistic potential for extension beyond this phase.

This role is ideally suited to someone with a strong commissioning background in mission critical environments and proven HV experience, acting as the key interface between project delivery, client teams and specialist commissioning contractors.

The Role

  • Take ownership of the commissioning strategy from early‑stage planning through to final validation and handover, ensuring all critical systems are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest technical standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the overall MEP commissioning strategy, scope and documentation.
  • Drive commissioning activities across all project phases from pre‑construction through to handover.
  • Coordinate and oversee commissioning contractors, specialist vendors and client stakeholders.
  • Manage inspection and witnessing of key technical systems and associated testing procedures.
  • Review and manage all QA/QC and commissioning documentation.
  • Oversee commissioning and validation of critical infrastructure systems.
  • Review cause & effect documentation and ensure full systems integration.
  • Promote collaborative and integrated project delivery across all disciplines.
  • Identify technical risks, defects and commissioning challenges early to maintain programme certainty.

Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering commissioning on large‑scale Data Centre or Mission Critical projects.
  • Strong MEP background with HV experience essential.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and coordination skills.
  • Experience working for a Principal Contractor or major MEP Contractor preferred.
  • Ability to manage fast‑track commissioning programmes in live project environments.
