Assistant MEP Project Manager – Data Centres

£400–£450 per day | Outside IR35 | 24-Month Contract Brent / Hayes / Slough | Data Centre Projects

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading MEP contractor for an experienced Assistant MEP Project Manager to join a major data-centre project in the West London / Thames Valley area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced MEP professional looking for a long-term freelance contract, with an initial 24-month programme and the opportunity to work on a technically complex, high-profile data-centre project.

The Role

Working closely with the MEP Project Manager and wider delivery team, you will support the successful delivery and coordination of mechanical and electrical services throughout the project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Supporting the MEP Project Manager with day-to-day project delivery.
  • Coordinating MEP subcontractors and site teams.
  • Monitoring progress against programme and key project milestones.
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, technical submissions and RFIs.
  • Coordinating MEP works with other trades and disciplines.
  • Assisting with procurement and material tracking.
  • Supporting commercial management, variations and cost control.
  • Attending project, client, consultant and subcontractor meetings.
  • Monitoring quality and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with project requirements.
  • Assisting with testing, commissioning, snagging and handover.
  • Identifying and resolving technical and coordination issues.
  • Providing regular progress updates to the Project Manager.

About You

We are looking for an experienced MEP professional with a strong background in building services and project delivery, ideally within the data-centre or mission-critical sector.

  • Electrical Project Engineer

The ideal candidate will have

  • Proven experience delivering MEP packages on major construction projects.
  • Previous data-centre / mission-critical experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical building-services knowledge.
  • Experience managing and coordinating subcontractors.
  • Good understanding of project programmes and delivery milestones.
  • Experience with technical coordination, RFIs and design documentation.
  • Commercial awareness, including variations and cost control.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
