Job Title: Sub Agent – Structural Refurbishment (Freelance) Location: Gatwick Airport Duration: 2 years (freelance contract) Employer: Tier 1 Main Contractor About the Project We are delivering a large-scale structural refurbishment package on one of the piers at Gatwick Airport. This complex, high-profile scheme will run for two years and requires a skilled Sub Agent with strong Tier 1 contractor experience in above-ground structural works. Role Overview The Sub Agent will play a key role in finalising designs, working through the ECI stage, and liaising with designers to ensure the works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced professional who can manage design coordination, drive progress on-site, and support delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Lead on design finalisation and manage coordination during the ECI stage. Work closely with designers and stakeholders to resolve technical queries. Support delivery teams with planning, sequencing, and overseeing works. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and programme requirements. Manage and mentor junior engineers where required. Provide accurate reporting and progress updates to senior management.Candidate Requirements Proven Sub Agent experience with a Tier 1 contractor. Strong background in above-ground structural works. Demonstrable experience of working through ECI and design stages. Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills. Strong knowledge of health, safety, and quality standards on major projects.
