A private equity backed Tier 2 civils contractor is looking for a Design Manager to join their Preconstruction team. This business has a solid portfolio of secure frameworks within their target markets which are Rail and Highways. They typically undertake projects in the sub 100M bracket. This is a hybrid position that will give you a lot of flexibility. We would anticipate that you could work from home for four days per week, with one day in the office. The general culture and working environment of the business is really pleasant, supportive and family-orientated due to its heritage.

As a Design Manager, you will work as part of the Preconstruction team and oversee the management of the design process across projects within the rail portfolio. You will be responsible for leading the coordination with multidisciplinary teams and liaising with stakeholders to ensure the delivery of design is on time and within budget. This will include managing any risk and change, overseeing the preparation of design documentation, and supporting the design team with technical guidance when needed.

To be successful in this position, it is thought that you will:

  • Have a degree or equivalent academic qualification in civil engineering or construction
  • Hold a working knowledge of construction and civil engineering works, with site-based experience highly desirable
  • Have experience of design management at preconstruction phase, ideally within the rail sector
  • Have experience of administering the NEC3/4 form of contract and managing change and risk
  • Have experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously

On offer is a salary of between 55,000 - 60,000 per annum with a strong benefits package including a car allowance, private healthcare, pension, life assurance, 25 days Annual Leave and a day off for your birthday.
