Chinese speaking Compliance Manager and MLRO
Location: London
Salary: Up to £96k + bonus and benefits, depending on experience.
Employment type: Permanent
Working hours: 9:00am–5:00pm (1 hour lunch) Monday–Friday.
Start date: ASAP.
Responsibilities
- Establish, implement and maintain adequate policies and procedures designed to detect any risk of failure to comply with regulatory obligations and counter financial crime.
- Advise and assist relevant persons responsible for carrying out regulated activities to comply with the bank’s obligations.
- Ensure adequate training and guidance is undertaken by staff on all aspects of compliance and anti‑money laundering matters.
- Access and oversee the firm’s compliance with regulator rules on systems and controls that prevent the firm being used for money laundering and terrorist financing.
- Receive reports of suspicious activity from staff.
- Consider all reports and evaluate whether there is evidence of money laundering or terrorist financing.
- Report any suspicious activity or transaction to the National Crime Agency (NCA) by completing and submitting a Suspicious Activity Report and provide additional information when required.
- Request NCA consent to continue with any transactions they reported and ensure that illegal transactions are not continued.
- Train staff in preventing money laundering and following regulation.
Qualifications
- Solid experience across financial markets regulatory obligations.
- Excellent relationship and communication skills, with the ability to help drive regulatory compliant and commercially viable solutions.
- Ability to update fit‑for‑purpose compliance policies, procedures, controls, perform targeted compliance testing and manage regulatory filings.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Good communication in English; Chinese a plus.
- Self‑motivated, team player, good communication skills, circumspection, ability to work independently, dependable, flexible.
