Overview
In this in-house role, you will lead corporate and compliance matters for a multinational German/Japanese-facing organisation. You will support M&A, contracts, and cross-border legal risk, while coordinating with Tokyo HQ and external counsel. The role blends advisory work with litigation handling and regulatory compliance, shaping how we operate in Europe. You’ll drive continuous learning, stakeholder communications, and seminars on anti-corruption and export controls. This is a senior, impact-focused position within a collaborative, cross-cultural team.

Responsibilities
- Lead general corporate activities including M&A, commercial contracts, and in-house property matters
- Oversee compliance initiatives and deliver seminars on ABC laws, export control, and sanctions
- Manage litigation including labour and general commercial disputes; liaise with external counsel
- Conduct up-to-date legal research affecting Europe and Japanese-headquartered operations
- Draft and review contracts and risk-related documents; support execution of transactions
- Coordinate with commercial teams and external clients; instruct external lawyers as needed
- Handle cross-border legal risk issues and disputes; manage cross-border communications with Tokyo HQ
- Support compliance matters and anti-corruption initiatives across the business
Key requirements
- Qualified Solicitor of England and Wales (5–7 PQE)
- In-house experience preferred
- Strong client service and relationship management skills
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment and liaise with Tokyo HQ
