A leading life science company is seeking a Business Development Officer to support and expand its presence in the Japanese market. This role focuses on driving commercial growth across research and applied scientific environments by working closely with distribution partners and key customers in academia and industry.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Manage the full sales cycle in close collaboration with local distribution partners in Japan
- Drive market growth and identify new business opportunities across academic institutions, research organizations, biotech companies, pharmaceutical companies, and CROs
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts across academia and industry
- Support distribution partners through product training, commercial guidance, and field-based support to enable sales performance
- Conduct product demonstrations, presentations, and scientific/technical discussions at customer meetings, conferences, seminars, and trade shows
- Support marketing initiatives, including workshops, events, and seminar series
- Manage core commercial processes, including quotations, order coordination, contract and agreement handling, and related documentation in line with internal procedures
- Prepare accurate sales forecasts and activity reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
The Skills You'll Need to Succeed:
- Fluent bilingual Japanese and English
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology, Neuroscience, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or a related scientific discipline
- Experience in sales, technical support, or research within a scientific or laboratory-based environment
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with international teams
- Comfortable operating in a cross-functional, customer-facing, and global environment
- Willingness to work closely with distribution partners and customers in a dynamic setting
- Willingness to travel up to 30% (Japan and international)
