What You'll be Doing Each Day:
- To help other credit team members to understand policies and documents issued from HO that are applicable to their work and help to translate key content into English if needed.
- Help other credit team members with the system operation when some menus are only in Chinese.
- To be the presentation of credit proposals to Head Office Credit Committees when necessary.
- To assist with the review and development of credit risk policies and procedures, especially as to the policies required by HO.
- To assist in establishing and maintaining credit risk management controls, systems and procedures that meet the requirements of HO, Branch and external auditors.
- To monitor adherence to approved credit limits and to ensure that the Deputy Head of Risk is informed of all material excesses on the same working day as identified.
- To ensure that all credit risks are properly monitored and controlled and to ensure that the credit limits are all formally reviewed as per the Branch’s internal policies.
- To provide high quality and independent credit risk assessments and recommendations for issuers and clients when needed.
- To provide comprehensive and accurate credit analysis of country risks where needed.
- To provide advice in respect of the structuring of prospective transactions and guidance in respect of the completion of credit proposals to ensure all risks are identified when needed.
- Read and understand the Risk Management & Compliance framework (and the policies referenced therein) that are applicable to their work and ensure that their work is carried out in full accordance with those policies and procedures and with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
- Ensuring transactions arranged are in accordance with the Tax Risk Policy and are documented in accordance with the Legal Policy and any applicable departmental procedures.
- Ensuring managing the use of IT systems and of data, particularly personal data, in accordance with the IT Security Policy and the Data Protection Policy and any applicable departmental procedures.
- Responsibility for the provision of policy, tools, techniques and support to enable conduct and compliance risk to be managed in the first line.
- Conduct monitoring and reporting to assess the design and effectiveness of first line controls and ensure consistency of definitions and measurement of conduct risk.
- To ensure policy and processes meet legal and regulatory requirements, identify opportunities to improve the framework and collaborate with the First Line of Defence to implement and embed changes.
The Skills You'll Need to Succeed:
- Educated to degree and/or appropriate professional qualification level
- Some credit risk experience within banking.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in English as well as Mandarin.
- A sound understanding of a broad range of wholesale lending products
- Good team skills, in particular the ability to work closely with the business areas while retaining independence
- An ability to shoulder responsibility, show initiative, make decisions and work under pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills
