What You'll be Doing:
The Financial Management department is responsible for planning, organising, directing and controlling the Bank's financial activities. The department oversees accounting and financial reporting, fixed assets and expense management, budgeting and management reporting, taxation (direct and indirect), regulatory reporting, and treasury (asset and liability management).
As the Mandarin Speaking Vice President Accounting, you will lead and manage the Accounting team, taking responsibility for accounting operations, statutory reporting and Head Office reporting. You will manage a team of seven, reporting directly to the Deputy Head.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the Accounting team and providing coaching, development and performance management.
- Ensuring accounting treatments comply with IFRS, regulatory requirements and Head Office accounting policies.
- Reviewing and maintaining accounting policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure they remain effective and aligned with Head Office standards.
- Delivering timely, accurate and complete financial and regulatory reporting to Head Office and other stakeholders.
- Strengthening and enhancing the financial control framework across the accounting function.
- Leading the annual statutory audit process and managing relationships with external auditors.
- Identifying, assessing and mitigating financial and operational risks within the accounting function.
- Acting as the key contact for internal audits, Head Office audits and second-line assurance reviews.
- Driving continuous improvements across accounting processes, controls and reporting.
The Skills You'll Need to Succeed:
- Native-level Mandarin language skills (spoken and written) are essential.
- Full right to work in the UK.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related discipline.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Solid accounting experience within banking or the wider financial services sector.
- Strong experience managing accounting teams, with previous leadership responsibility for at least 4–5 team members.
- Experience managing internal and external audit processes.
- Excellent technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and statutory reporting.
- Strong understanding of regulatory reporting requirements within financial services.
- Proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to identify risks, strengthen financial controls and drive continuous improvement.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
