Key Purpose of the Role
To lead and coordinate pastoral care provision across a year group or whole school. To promote positive behaviour, attendance, and engagement in learning. To act as a key point of contact for students, parents, and staff regarding welfare and behaviour concerns.
Main Responsibilities
- Student Welfare & Support: Provide guidance, mentoring, and emotional support to students. Identify and address barriers to learning, including social, emotional, and behavioural issues. Work closely with safeguarding leads to ensure student safety.
- Behaviour & Attendance: Monitor attendance and punctuality, implementing interventions where needed. Support behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches. Maintain accurate records of incidents, interventions, and progress.
- Parental & Community Engagement: Liaise with parents/carers to discuss concerns and progress. Build positive relationships with external agencies (e.g., social services, youth support).
- Collaboration with Staff: Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and senior leaders to support student needs. Share good practice and contribute to staff training on pastoral matters.
