Description:

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Governance and Procurement Coordinator leads the Shire’s governance, risk and procurement functions, ensuring high standards of probity, legislative compliance and best‑practice public sector decision‑making. This role is responsible for coordinating Council and Committee processes, managing governance frameworks, delegations, policies and local laws, and overseeing compliance, risk and audit requirements. The position also delivers procurement activities, ensuring tendering, evaluation and contracting processes are conducted in accordance with policy and legislation.

Key focus areas include:

  • Providing high‑level advice on governance, risk, compliance and statutory obligations
  • Coordinating Council meetings, agendas, minutes, elections and governance registers
  • Leading procurement planning, tendering and evaluation processes with a strong probity framework
  • Ensuring transparent, defensible and compliant procurement and contracting practices
  • Monitoring legislative change and supporting the organisation to meet evolving obligations

The Shire is seeking a governance‑focused professional with demonstrated experience in legislative and highly regulated environments, ideally within local government or the broader public sector. The successful candidate will bring a strong working knowledge of governance frameworks, procurement policy and statutory compliance, and will take professional pride in upholding probity, transparency and accountability in decision‑making. The role requires a person who is confident and credible in providing clear, well‑reasoned advice to senior leaders and Council Members, and who is comfortable navigating legislation, policy, risk frameworks and complex governance matters in a practical and solutions‑focused manner.

  • Experience in undertaking and analysing reports and preparing complex written documents.
