We are looking for a practical, proactive and customer-focused Facilities Assistant to join our Facilities team. This is a varied, hands‑on role supporting the smooth running of our site, Pentlands Science Park, which includes laboratories, offices, farm environments, and estate grounds. As a key member of the Facilities team, you will contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient and welcoming environment across the park. You will provide essential support to colleagues, tenants, contractors and visitors, helping ensure day‑to‑day operations run effectively. This is a diverse role offering a mix of maintenance, grounds, logistics, and customer‑facing responsibilities ‑ no two days are the same.
Experience required
- Experience in a maintenance or construction/property environment
- Strong handyman skills and ability to use tools and equipment safely
- Good understanding of health & safety (or willingness to undertake training)
- Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
In addition to the above, the ideal candidate will also have:
- PAT testing certification
- Grounds maintenance or horticulture experience
- Experience operating plant or machinery (e.g. tractor)
- Awareness of facilities management systems
