The HR Advisor provides practical, delivery‑focused HR support across the London HQ and UK retail population, helping turn people priorities, processes and plans into consistent day‑to‑day action across advice, employee relations and operational activity.

The role supports managers and employees across the employee lifecycle, ensuring day‑to‑day HR activity is delivered consistently, accurately and in line with policy, legislation and Pentland Brands values.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first‑line HR advice to managers and employees across the London HQ population, escalating complex or high‑risk matters appropriately.
  • Manage employee relations cases including performance, conduct, absence, grievances and informal resolution, with support from the Senior HR Business Partner where required.
  • Coach managers on people processes, policy application and good people‑management practice.
  • Support employee lifecycle activity including onboarding, contractual changes, probation, family leave, flexible working, leavers and off‑boarding.
  • Work with the HR Assistant to ensure HR administration, employee records and system data are accurate and completed on time.
  • Prepare letters, meeting notes, case documentation and employee communications to a high standard.
  • Support cyclical HR processes including performance, talent, engagement and reward, ensuring deadlines and actions are followed up.
  • Use data and case trends to identify recurring issues, manager capability needs and process improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with Payroll, Benefits and Talent Acquisition to ensure employee changes and onboarding activity are joined up.
  • Support HR projects, policy updates, engagement initiatives and local communications as required.
  • Promote consistent, fair and inclusive people practices across the London HQ and UK retail populations.
  • Handle employee information with confidentiality, care and compliance with GDPR requirements.
  • Maintain high discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Qualifications

  • Experience in an HR Advisor or similar generalist HR role.
  • Good knowledge of UK employment law and confidence advising on employee relations matters.
  • Experience preparing HR documentation, letters, meeting notes and case records.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build trust with managers and employees.
  • A practical, solutions‑focused approach, with the judgement to elevate when needed.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple cases and tasks.
  • Experience using HR systems such as Success Factors (desirable).
  • High discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
