As a key member of the Rapid Prototyping team, you will be responsible for the pattern cutting & manufacturing of garment samples and product prototypes working with the Design, Development and Innovation teams in Pentland Brands. You will provide an invaluable service to help our creative teams originate and conceptualise their ideas and designs into items to test fit, form and function.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage projects end-to-end, delivering patterns, prototypes, samples and construction guidelines accurately and within agreed timelines in a busy atelier environment.
  • Lead fit sessions across multiple product categories, supporting technical decision-making and product development through to SMS.
  • Play a key role in bringing (innovation) concepts to life through pattern cutting, advanced prototyping, technical problem-solving and new construction methods, collaborating closely with NPI, Design and Product Development teams to deliver concepts and innovation projects successfully.
  • Maintain prototype, sample and pattern block libraries, as well as sample room materials, equipment and component inventory.
  • Identify and explore new technologies and construction methods, including digital pattern cutting and 3D printing, while supporting solutions for fit, performance and functionality challenges.
  • Support product quality and customer-focused development by working with suppliers, consumer groups and junior team members to improve products, processes and team capability.

What you’ll bring:

  • Take ownership of technical decision-making throughout product development, considering fit, function, performance and customer needs.
  • Degree-qualified or equivalent industry experience in textile product design, development or a related field.
  • Proven experience in pattern cutting, garment fitting and construction methods within activewear or similar industries, including use of Lectra Modaris.
  • Expert in fitting and developing garments for both menswear and womenswear, with experience using industrial sewing and bonding equipment.
  • Good understanding of the active and outdoor market, including technical fabric construction methods such as Gore-Tex and bonded stretch fabrics.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational and communication skills, with experience working across teams, maintaining prototyping equipment and supporting product development through accurate sampling and technical expertise.
