Typical Activities
- Working in collaboration with internal stakeholders across Engineering, Service Desk and Delivery teams, the Service Operations Engineer will support, monitor and enhance critical infrastructure and services.
- Monitor production infrastructure to ensure performance and availability.
- Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, and implement fixes.
- Respond to security alerts, system events and operational incidents.
- Support infrastructure builds, testing and deployment of new technologies.
- Implement automation using scripting and deployment tools.
- Manage patching, changes and deployments with minimal disruption.
- Provide hardware support and liaise with vendors for fault resolution.
- Act as an escalation point for complex service issues.
- Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing and process improvement.
- Support project delivery and ongoing service improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in a busy IT or service operations environment.
- Understanding of secure protocols (IPsec, SSH, TLS).
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience with containerised environments (e.g. Docker).
- Scripting ability (Python, Bash or similar).
- Knowledge of monitoring and security tooling.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with SIEM tools (e.g. Splunk).
- Familiarity with VMware, Veeam or virtualisation platforms.
- Knowledge of Ansible, CI/CD or automation tooling.
- Experience with VoIP / SIP technologies.
- Understanding of cryptographic systems.

- Have relevant experience in IT, Networking or Infrastructure Engineering; and,
- Be a British citizen; and
- Hold or be eligible for UK National Security Vetting (NSV) - DV level clearance.
