About the Role

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will design, build, and support secure end-to-end mobility and communication solutions for customer and internal projects. You'll work on a mix of infrastructure, cloud, and automation technologies, supporting the full lifecycle from deployment to Level 3 support.

Typical duties include:

  • Installing, configuring, and administering Linux-based infrastructure (Ubuntu/RHEL) and virtualised environments (vSphere, vCenter).
  • Writing Ansible playbooks and using IaC tools to automate deployment of infrastructure and cloud services.
  • Managing secure AWS cloud environments and supporting cross domain solutions.
  • Creating and maintaining system architecture documentation and ensuring environments meet CIS security standards.
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex system issues in collaboration with support teams.
  • Supporting and maintaining infrastructure in secure and air-gapped environments.
  • Researching and integrating new technologies to enhance system performance and security.

Skills and Experience

  • Advanced Linux system administration with practical experience in scripting (Bash, Python) and automation using Ansible.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP), PKI/certificate management, and virtualisation (VMware).
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS) and containerised environments (Docker).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK) and version control systems.
  • Working knowledge of cross domain solutions and operating within secure, air-gapped environments.
  • Solid grasp of CI/CD principles and infrastructure as code in secure environments.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills with a customer-focused mindset.

Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this position you must:

  • 2-5+ years' experience in a Linux or Infrastructure Engineering role.
  • Be a British Citizen; and
  • Hold or be eligible for NSV - DV (please see the gov.uk for guidance)
