Typical Activities
- Design complex digital and analogue electronic circuits from concept through to production
- Develop, review and maintain multi-layer PCB designs incorporating processors, FPGAs and high-speed interfaces
- Perform circuit analysis, simulation and design verification to ensure performance, reliability and security
- Support prototype bring-up, verification, validation and troubleshooting at board and system level
- Investigate returned products and implement design or process improvements
- Provide technical leadership, input to design reviews and sound engineering decision-making
- Mentor and support junior engineers, acting as a technical authority within the team
- Engage with customers to understand technical requirements and constraints
- Author and review high-quality technical documentation, including design documentation and test reports
- Contribute to innovation initiatives, engineering standards and long-term technical strategy
What we're looking for
- Strong experience in digital and analogue electronic design from concept to production
- Proven capability designing multi-layer PCBs using high-speed devices such as FPGAs and/or processors
- Experience using Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tools
- Ability to analyse, verify and assure designs for performance, manufacturability and reliability
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware issues
- Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with strong ownership of deliverables
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Enthusiasm for continuous professional development and learning new technologies
- Attention to detail with a commitment to quality and best practice
Desirable
- Working knowledge of RF design (e.g. Wi-Fi, NFC or cellular)
- Understanding of cryptography and secure system design principles
- Experience contributing to or defining engineering standards and processes
- Previous experience in customer-facing or client-supporting technical roles
- Exposure to secure, defence or government-related projects
