Typical Activities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for build, test, and deployment.
- Use containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) to ensure scalability and optimise resource allocation.
- Collaborate with IT & Service teams to configure, maintain, and monitor infrastructure for DevOps capabilities.
- Develop scripts and automation to streamline workflows and reduce manual tasks.
- Design and implement monitoring and logging solutions to track performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure smooth integration of DevOps tooling and processes.
- Conduct peer reviews of DevOps deliverables to maintain quality standards.
What we're looking for
- Proven experience implementing CI/CD best practices using GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI or Jenkins.
- Hands-on experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Puppet).
- Strong understanding of hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, on-prem).
- Working knowledge of networking concepts including VPCs, firewalls, and domain separation.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Elastic, Prometheus or Splunk.
- Ability to produce and review clear, structured technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience developing microservices in Rust or Go.
- Familiarity with serverless or cloud function technologies.
- Understanding of software supply chain security, including artefact management and vulnerability scanning.
- Knowledge of SaaS and PaaS architectures.
- Experience in government or defence environments.
Qualifications & Eligibility
To be eligible for this position you must:
- Hold a relevant degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or have equivalent professional experience;
- Be a British citizen;
- Hold UK National Security Vetting (NSV) - SC level clearance (DV desirable).
