We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our Divisional Management Accounts Team based in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build on their finance experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Reporting directly to the Divisional Management Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and providing valuable insights to business leaders.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations across allocated nominal accounts
- Ensure the accuracy of balance sheet and P&L expense postings, identifying and resolving discrepancies
- Complete month-end reconciliations in line with reporting deadlines
- Maintain the Divisional Asset Register, including depreciation and verification
- Process ad-hoc sales invoices and credit notes as required
- Support the preparation and distribution of monthly management accounts packs
- Assist with divisional stock audits
- Provide financial data, analysis, and insights to support decision-making
- Offer cover and support to the Management Accountant and wider finance team
- Ensure all finance processes are compliant with Group Financial Policy, audit standards, and internal controls
- Studying towards, AAT qualified, or a similar accounting qualification.
- Experience working within a management accounts environment.
- Experience with fixed asset accounting and month-end reporting processes
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial accounting systems.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
