Pentagon Motor Group have an exciting new opportunity for a Fleet Quality Controller to join our West Hallam based Fleet Department!

The Fleet Quality Controller plays a key role in ensuring all vehicles meet required specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations prior to delivery. This involves carrying out detailed off‑site inspections to verify that each vehicle is built in line with tender requirements, correctly fitted with all specified options, and free from defects or damage.

Working across multiple converter sites and external locations, you will be responsible for identifying discrepancies, raising quality concerns, and ensuring any issues are resolved efficiently to avoid delays. The role requires clear communication with converters, suppliers, and internal teams, as well as accurate reporting of inspection findings to support the sales and operations functions. The position involves regular travel across the UK, primarily covering areas from Bristol to Manchester, using a company vehicle. Occasional overnight stays may be required depending on workload and location. This is a highly independent role, requiring strong attention to detail, organisation, and a proactive approach to maintaining high quality standards across the fleet.

Main Purpose of the Role

  • Carry out detailed off‑site vehicle inspections to ensure all vehicles meet tender specifications and customer order requirements before delivery.
  • Verify that all required fitments, conversions, and optional extras are correctly completed, identifying any discrepancies.
  • Identify and report any damage, defects, or missing components, ensuring issues are resolved prior to delivery.
  • Liaise directly with converters and suppliers to raise quality concerns and agree corrective actions.
  • Ensure all vehicles are quality checked and meet company and customer standards before handover.
  • Complete and submit clear, accurate inspection reports to the sales team, highlighting any issues or risks to delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, issues, and resolutions using company systems and reporting tools.
  • Support internal teams by providing updates on vehicle status and quality concerns.
  • Travel across multiple off‑site locations (including converter sites) as required, using a company vehicle.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and supporting quality and process enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed vehicle inspections off‑site, ensuring all vehicles meet tender specifications and customer order requirements.
  • Identify and report any damage, defects, or missing components, ensuring issues are addressed prior to delivery.
  • Liaise directly with converters and suppliers to raise, track, and resolve quality issues.
  • Produce and submit accurate inspection reports to the sales team, clearly highlighting any concerns or risks.
  • Support the sales function by ensuring vehicles meet agreed standards and are fully prepared for customer delivery.
  • Capture photographic evidence of inspections using a tablet or mobile device, submitting findings for review and approval.
  • Verify VIN numbers against registration plates to ensure correct vehicle identification and compliance.
