Overview
Pentagon Motor Group has an exciting opportunity at our Derby MAXUS dealership for an experienced Sales Manager/General Manager Designate to join, motivate, and lead our MAXUS sales and service team.
This role is an ideal first step into General Management for an ambitious individual within our growing dealer group.
You will drive performance and growth of our LCV operation, deliver exceptional customer service, and maximise sales and service opportunities across the MAXUS van range.
You will lead by example, inspire the team to achieve and exceed targets through strong leadership, professionalism, and a customer-focused approach.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing sales and service performance, building strong relationships with retail and business customers, and ensuring the highest standards of operational efficiency and customer satisfaction are maintained.

Responsibilities
- Build rapport with customers quickly and fairly.
- Monitor finance and insurance performance against budget; identify and address shortfalls.
- Assist management in planning, forecasting trends, and revising plans for the dealership on an ongoing basis.
- Coaches and develops the skills of the team to achieve business objectives.
- Qualify customers’ demands and needs to determine the most appropriate insurance products to recommend.
- Log all activity to monitor performance, measure outcomes, and provide regular feedback to the Sales Manager & General Manager.
- Support the achievement of company targets while ensuring high standards of customer service and operational efficiency.
- Adhere to and promote company processes, industry regulations, and legislation.
Qualifications
- Proven track record in a sales role.
- Motor Trade experience preferred.
- Ability to organise, prioritise, and reprioritise workloads.
- Demonstrated compliance with operating processes, regulations, and legislation.
- Strong leadership to motivate the team and lead by example, regardless of workload.
- Up-to-date knowledge of vehicle and consumer legislation and modern business practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Consent to a Basic Disclosure (DBS) procedure; employment subject to a satisfactory Disclosure report.
- Working Hours
The working hours for this role are 42.5 hours per week, as per the sales rota. Sundays are planned weekly days off.
