Penspen is currently recruiting for a dynamic Senior Proposals Lead with real commercial understanding and some engineering capabilities.
Main Purpose Of Role
As a Senior Proposals Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving business growth for our Europe Region. Your main responsibilities will be to lead the proposal life cycle for projects of all sizes, ensuring the successful delivery of compelling, winning and value driven solutions. You will be part of a vibrant and dynamic Bid team, collaborating closely with various stakeholders at all levels of the organisation across technical delivery, business development, commercial, legal, and finance.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate project requirements and risks, formulating bid/no-bid recommendations and presenting to management.
- Support development of bid strategy and proposal value add with technical and non-technical teams.
- Collaborate and drive high quality tender inputs from across the organisation.
- Develop attractive and compelling proposal documentation embedding our value offerings.
- Evaluate and mitigate project/contractual risks within the tender proposals.
- Prepare tender prices with consideration of technical inputs, subcontractor prices, and business targets.
- Presentation of prepared tenders to senior/executive management for approval.
- Develop robust and achievable bid schedules, clearly communicating timings to the bid team.
- Maintain visibility of bid progress and ensure timely communication and tender completion.
- Respond to customer requests for clarifications/amendments promptly and professionally.
- Lead tender negotiation meetings/presentations with customers, with the support of the Manager of Proposals and wider sales team.
- Foster good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Arrange site visits, external bid meetings, and presentations as needed.
- Manage CRM for own opportunities, maintain excellent document filing and administration support for tender materials.
- Assist with BD activities, such as preparing presentations and attending marketing events.
- Maintain compliance with departmental and company procedures.
- Support Manager of Proposals with departmental activities where required including mentoring and checking the work of junior bid managers.
- Other duties as directed by line manager.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience
- Minimum of five (5) yearsβ experience of preparing proposals.
- Proven experience managing bids for a range of project values rising to multi-million-pound projects.
- Strong leadership qualities and ability to make independent decisions.
- Excellent organisational, fluent communicator with strong bid writing skills.
- Proactive, resilient and self-starter mentality with a strong desire to win.
- Knowledge of engineering services and the energy industry is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is desirable.
- Comfortable working under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Strong relationship and networking skills.
- Reliable, responsible and safety conscious.
- Excellent use of PowerPoint, Word, Excel and PDF to prepare professional documents.
