Responsibilities
- Responsible for management and implementation of Penspen’s Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures in compliance with all relevant legislative guidance and best practice.
- Ensure Quality, Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Management and Environmental Systems are monitored, co-ordinated and operated in accordance with their policies and procedures.
- Provide specialist expertise and advice on OHS, and Environmental matters.
- Facilitate the maintenance and management of OHS and well-being through systems, audit/inspection and the establishment of high standards and expectations on employees of safety aware behaviours/performance.
- To reveal defects or irregularities in any of the elements examined, and to indicate possible improvements and verify the implementation of solutions.
- Provide appropriate accident investigation methodology to ensure personal accountability and improve risk management, including monitoring and interpretation of statistical data.
- Verify that corrective action procedures are effective to identify and record any product quality problems.
- Ensure that all personnel carry out their Quality, OHS and Environmental functions according to company policy.
- Ensure internal and external audits where required, are carried out and the findings reported in writing to the QHSE Manager / Business Director / Operations Manager.
- Ensure that effective action is taken to resolve any non-conformance in the Quality, OHS or Environmental system in a timely and effective manner.
- To collate statistical data and management information relating to the various identified targets in order to monitor the effectiveness of the service provided.
- Provide timely monthly reports and analysis.
- Maintain listing of current legislation relating to Health and Safety and Environmental safety matters in order to satisfy the obligatory demands.
- To implement and work within the guidelines for the company quality systems.
- To be aware of Company and building requirements for fire, health, safety and environmental procedures.
Knowledge / Experience (Skills)
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering, this includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Specialist knowledge of a wide range of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Safety issues.
- Excellent Management skills - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modelling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Self-motivated with ability to prioritise workload.
- Good oral, written and interpersonal skills.
- Experience of recording accurate data and attention to detail.
- Be reliable, responsible and safety-conscious.
- Willing to develop further and keep up with advancing technology.
- Computing skills required; Microsoft Office 2007 applications, Word, Access and Excel at least.
- Good Organisational and Time Management skills.
- A full UK driving license is required.
Qualifications
- Preferably be an incorporated Engineer and working towards chartered status.
- Professional qualification in Health, Safety and Environmental.
- Educated to minimum of degree level or equivalent standard.
- Management qualification.
- Experience with QHSE Management Systems.

- Working with the Company to ensure a high standard of Environmental Health and Safety management by following the site EHS procedures.
