Cathodic Protection Technician – UK/Remote. Salary: Circa £40k per annum negotiable depending on experience. Benefits: Flexible Benefits worth £900. Applicant must have the right to work in the UK.
Main Purpose Of Role
Penspen www.penspen.com are looking for an accomplished Cathodic Protection (CP) Technician to join our growing team. The role will be responsible for carrying out all aspects of cathodic protection installation, monitoring and maintenance including CIPS and DCVG surveys throughout the UK. The candidate should be prepared to travel throughout the UK and to stay away from home.
Qualifications
- Minimum ICCOR Level 2 (CP Technician). ICORR Level 3 (Senior Technician) preferred.
- CCNSG Safety Passport or equivalent.
- Ideally a member of the Institute of Corrosion.
- A current valid UK driving license is essential to this position.
Responsibilities
- To deliver CP related services throughout the business.
- Execute CP inspections and specialist surveys such as AC voltage monitoring, CIPS and DCVG surveys ensuring delivery of reports within agreed timelines.
- Site visits to investigate and expedite CP related matters and concerns where required.
- Complete reporting in a timely and accurate manner.
- Carry out assigned duties and work without direct supervision potentially in remote locations.
- Provide training, advice, guidance and support to other teams or individuals when applicable.
- Contribute to projects, investigations and audits (internal and external to the site) as required.
- Provide recommendations as to how Penspen can generate additional revenue through ad-hoc type quotations and unscheduled tasks based on reports and analysis or as requested by clients.
- Carry out assessments and onsite training for technicians or staff in other sectors of the business.
- Ensure that company procedures are followed and relevant documentation is completed.
- Adhere to Penspen UK Health, Safety and Environment policy and comply with employee responsibilities listed in the Health, Safety and Environment Handbook.
- To bring to the attention of the QHSE Department any failures that are in breach of the Company QHSE policies and processes and any dangerous situations.
- Prepare Risk Assessments/Method Statements for CP related tasks.
- Carry out any other duties that might reasonably be expected for the post holder.
Knowledge / Experience (Skills)
- Good experience in general cathodic protection monitoring, maintenance and fault finding.
- Familiarity with the CIPS and DCVG techniques.
- Familiarity of Installation and data processing of AC data loggers.
- Familiarity with the use of pipe location equipment.
- Solving technical problems quickly and smoothly.
- Experience of buried pipelines and management of CP projects desirable.
- Ability to read geographical maps and technical drawings.
- Ability to record accurate data and attention to detail and submitting timely paperwork.
- Fully flexible and mobile.
- Experience of dealing with client/land owners, or of a similar nature (desirable).
- Working as a team player and ability to work alone.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Good computing skills required include Microsoft Office applications specifically Word, Access and Excel.
- Good oral, written and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate in a professional manner and in a pressurised environment.
