It is a critical time for pension policy in the UK. With a Pensions Bill making its way through Parliament and a Pensions Commission under way, pensions issues are high up the political agenda. Pensions UK is here to help everyone enjoy a better income in retirement. For the Policy and Advocacy team, that means influencing policy and the debate that surrounds it in Parliament and the media, in order to drive better outcomes for savers, working with our large and diverse membership.
As a Policy Lead you will be responsible for a key area of policy and expected to build expertise and credibility quickly as an authoritative voice that can help influence and shape the debate, with insightful and evidence-based views. You will be joining a high performing and supportive team with a strong commitment to delivering for members and the savers they serve.
Key responsibilities:- You will be responsible for developing policies which influence the outcome of public policy in the interests of our strategic and tactical objectives.
- You will help raise our profile on relevant issues so that we are associated with clear and persuasive views and policy positions.
- This will involve the production of high-quality policy papers and slides, consultation responses, and evidence-based research reports.
- Guided by your manager and working closely with the Pension UK’s policy governance committees/working groups, you will help implement policies from Pensions UK’s work programme.
- You will provide high quality support to Pension UK’s policy governance bodies to ensure that we understand the views of the pension industry and draw on their expertise.
- You will provide advice on relevant issues to the Pension UK’s policy governance bodies, Heads of Team and Executive Director of Policy & Advocacy, as required.
- You will act as a spokesperson for the Association on your areas of responsibility at industry events and in the media.
- You will represent the Association at meetings and events, including meetings with senior officials and Ministers, Parliamentarians and industry leaders.
- You will deputise for the Heads of Teams where appropriate.
- You will provide practical support to members on policy-related issues, for example through the production of guides, through presentations or direct engagement.
- You will build strong links with Government and regulators in the UK, with trade associations and with the Association’s fund and business members so that we are well networked and able to influence the right people at the right time.
- You will provide insight for the programme development for our conferences and events, ensuring relevant and interesting content.
Salary between £50,000 to £65,000 depending on experience.
Discretionary bonus based on performance.
Pension of 20% (15% employer/5% employee) or 10% (10% employer/0% employee).
