At the Pension Protection Fund (PPF), we safeguard the futures of nearly 300,000 members by compensating defined benefit (DB) pension scheme holders when their sponsoring employers become insolvent. With over £30 billion in assets under management, our investments support long-term economic growth across the UK.

The PPF is delighted to announce that we are now accepting applications for our 2026 intake of the Actuarial Internship Programme. This is a 13-month placement, starting at the beginning of July 2026 and finishing at the end of July 2027. It is open to current students who wish to complete a placement year after the second year of their degree course. Please note: this programme is only available to current undergraduates.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong academic record and proven communication and influencing skills to gain experience within a high-profile financial services organisation. We expect applicants to have strong numerical aptitude, ideally demonstrated by a high A-Level grade in Mathematics (or equivalent), and be studying towards an actuarial-related undergraduate degree on track for a 2:1 classification or above. Competency in Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel, would be advantageous.
You will be a valued member of the team, working to clear deadlines on projects that make a tangible impact on our organisation. You will have exposure to a wide range of stakeholders and take responsibility for varied tasks, including running internal models and valuation programmes, reviewing results, and recommending improvements to models and processes.
