At the Pension Protection Fund (PPF), we safeguard the futures of nearly 300,000 members by compensating defined benefit (DB) pension scheme holders when their sponsoring employers become insolvent. With over £30 billion in assets under management, our investments support long-term economic growth across the UK.

Our award-winning team of around 450 professionals has earned the IPE UK Pension Fund of the Year title three times in six years. We work closely with government and industry partners to improve outcomes for scheme members, employers, and the broader pension system, playing a vital role in strengthening retirement security nationwide.

The PPF is delighted to announce that we are now accepting applications for our 2026 intake of the Actuarial Internship Programme. This is a 13-month placement, starting at the beginning of July 2026 and finishing at the end of July 2027. It is open to current students who wish to complete a placement year after the second year of their degree course. Please note: this programme is only available to current undergraduates.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong academic record and proven communication and influencing skills to gain experience within a high-profile financial services organisation. We expect applicants to have strong numerical aptitude, ideally demonstrated by a high A-Level grade in Mathematics (or equivalent), and be studying towards an actuarial-related undergraduate degree on track for a 2:1 classification or above. Competency in Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel, would be advantageous.

You will be a valued member of the team, working to clear deadlines on projects that make a tangible impact on our organisation. You will have exposure to a wide range of stakeholders and take responsibility for varied tasks, including running internal models and valuation programmes, reviewing results, and recommending improvements to models and processes.

In return for your skills, experience and commitment, we will give you a challenging role within a business where you will get the support you need to develop your career. We will also give you lots of opportunities for personal development and skills training.

Our Croydon office is just across the road from East Croydon station, which is around 15 minutes from Victoria or London Bridge, 10 minutes from Clapham Junction or half an hour from St Pancras.

We are proud to be a Disability Confident Leader and actively encourage applications from people with disabilities. We are committed to ensuring our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible.
