This position requires a passion for effective teaching and advising of diverse students, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. This position will assist with curriculum updates; the successful candidate will teach occupational skills and knowledge to provide students with the competence to become skilled in the field and to secure a job in their new career; demonstrate occupational materials, tools, equipment, and processes using standard or instructor-prepared instructional aides; instruct students in the appropriate safety precautions and the safe operation and use of tools and equipment; control the storage, maintenance, and use of materials and property to prevent loss or abuse; and establish and maintain standards of student conduct to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment in an activity-type classroom.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an institution that holds accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and approved by the College with an Electricity Certification or License plus 3 years of experience in the Electricity field.
  • Proficiency with installation and repair of various types of commercial and residential wiring systems.
  • Working knowledge of residential and commercial Electricity, knowledge and application of local building code requirements, OSHA and EPA regulations, and job site safety are required.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • NCCER Craft Instructor Certification and prior teaching experience are preferred but not required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
