Description

At Penrose Health, we're on a mission to transform healthcare by delivering exceptional primary care services that put people first. We believe that great healthcare starts with great people - clinicians and support staff who bring not just skill, but genuine care, to every patient interaction. As we continue to grow, we're looking for dedicated individuals who share our commitment to compassionate, high-quality care and want to be part of shaping the future of primary care.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you'll play a vital and highly valued role within our practice team, working closely alongside GPs, Practice Nurses, and wider clinical staff to deliver a broad range of essential patient services. From carrying out health checks and vaccinations to supporting long-term condition management and health promotion, you'll be at the heart of the patient experience - often the first friendly, familiar face someone sees, and a trusted presence throughout their care journey. Your work will directly support our clinicians in delivering safe, efficient, and person-centred care to a diverse patient population.

We know that our people are our greatest asset, which is why we invest heavily in training, development, and wellbeing. Whether you're an experienced Healthcare Assistant looking for your next challenge, or someone early in your career eager to grow within primary care, you'll find a supportive, forward-thinking environment at Penrose Health - one where your contribution is recognised, your development is prioritised, and you're given every opportunity to build a long and rewarding career in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing face-to-face clinical support to patients in our practices
  • Carrying out blood pressure checks, ECGs, phlebotomy, wound care, weight management and NHS health checks

  • Chaperoning patients alongside the nursing and GP team
  • Assessing and monitoring patients' health and wellbeing
  • Managing vaccine and cold chain storage, and keeping accurate clinical records
  • Supporting infection control and health promotion initiatives
  • Helping keep consultation rooms stocked and organised

You’ll thrive here if you:

  • Have previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant, ideally in a primary care or community setting
  • Hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
  • Are confident in core HCA duties like phlebotomy, ECGs and wound care
  • Bring a kind, respectful and professional approach to every patient interaction
  • Communicate clearly and stay organised, even when things get busy
  • Are a flexible, reliable team player who's always keen to learn
  • Have experience working in a GP Primary Care setting (12+ months preferred), and ideally know your way around EMIS

Why join us

  • A supportive, forward-thinking workplace that values your contribution
  • Opportunities for ongoing training and career development, including funded professional development
  • 20 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Your Birthday off
