Rape Response Services, a subsidiary of Penquis, with offices in Bangor and Dover‑Foxcroft, seeks a dynamic individual to work as a full-time Sexual Assault Advocate. The role provides direct services to victims and survivors of sexual violence and stalking in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties. The Advocate will be eligible for a $500 incentive if hired before September 1, 2026.

Location: Bangor, Maine

Responsibilities:

  • Offer hope, support, and advocacy to victims and people affected by sexual assault and stalking, provide education about sexual violence, and promote prevention.
  • Build and maintain relationships with other service providers and systems to create referral networks and improve support for survivors.
  • Provide training to professionals, lead multidisciplinary teams, and organise community awareness events throughout both counties.
  • Develop relationships with and coordinate ongoing training and engagement opportunities for community partners, including multidisciplinary team members, law enforcement, and medical personnel.
  • Participate in an on‑call rotation, including nights and weekends, to support the provision of 24/7 services to victims/survivors.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a closely related field, with a minimum of one year of directly relevant experience. A bachelor’s degree in social work or related discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Personal philosophy in keeping with the program’s goals and objectives and an understanding of clinical, legal, and/or political issues related to sexual assault.
  • Work or volunteer experience providing services and support to victims of violence encouraged.
  • Valid Maine driver’s license, reliable insured transportation, and willingness to travel throughout Penobscot and Piscataquis counties.
  • Flexible work hours and on‑call shifts, including evenings and weekends, are a requirement.
  • Compliance with Penquis background check requirements upon hire and periodically thereafter.
