We are looking for a Practice Nurse to join our friendly team at Penny's Hill Practice.
Working hours:
- Monday: 09:00 - 13:00 & 14:00 - 18:00
- Tuesday: 09:00 - 13:00 & 14:00 - 18:00
- Thursday: 09:00 - 13:00 & 14:00 - 18:00
- Friday: 09:00 - 13:00 & 14:00 - 18:00
This is a permanent position.
Main duties of the job:
- Chronic Disease Management
- Dressings
- Removal of Sutures
- ECGs
- Memory assessments
- Venepuncture
- Blood pressure measurements
- Routine Adult and Childhood Immunisations
- Cervical Screening
- Travel Health Advice
- Chaperoning Duties
- Requesting basic pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
- Assisting with other clinical duties
Applicants must have excellent inter-personal skills and great attention to detail. A minimum of 2 years experience in Primary care is essential.
About us:
Penny's Hill Practice is based in Ferndown Town Centre, within walking distance to all amenities and the local supermarket. The practice shares purpose-built premises with Orchid House Surgery, providing a range of community services from attached facilities. We are a six-partner practice providing a range of primary care and community health services from Ferndown Medical Centre, running a personal list system for our 6 GPs with approximately 7500 patients registered. We also have 2 practice nurses, 1 Phlebotomist, 1 Phlebotomist/HCA, 1 tracker nurse/HCA, and our reception team.

Person Specification:
Experience:- Experience of Microsoft Office software
- Experience of dealing with the public/patients
- 2 years + experience in primary care
- Up to date with cervical screening, dressings, wound care and leg ulcer care
- Experience of SystmOne clinical system
- Leadership and management experience
- Good standard of general education
- GCSE mathematics or equivalent
- GCSE English or equivalent
- A Degree in Nursing or equivalent
- Registered with the NMC
- Demonstrable commitment to professional development
- An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality
- Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense
- Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities
- Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team
- Pleasant and articulate
- Able to work under pressure
